Beginning April of next year, the Ministry of Public Health will begin adding 667 beds to the national health system with the addition of the pediatric, maternity, and general hospital at the Charles de Gaulle City of Health in Santo Domingo.

The objective of these projects is to strengthen the capacity of the national network of health services in secondary and tertiary services as well of improve health indicators in the region. The hospitals, under construction as "turnkey" projects by Carimex, a part of IBT Group, count with an investment of approximately $110 to $120 million dollars. All equipment is already in the country and will be installed once the infrastructure is completed.
